How to Make a Charity Your Beneficiary

First, choose the charity that you want to be your beneficiary. Then check with your local government agency for the legality of the charity you choose. There are many educational, medical, and religious institutions which are qualified and legal groups. Next, email or contact the organisation, and state your intention to be a contributor. Usually, they will provide you with a list of requirements for you to accomplish. Whatever the requirements are, you should procure the charity's tax ID number and official name. This should confirm its legality.

If you plan to have money transferred to the charity's coffers, then arrange for your bank to deposit a fixed amount to the charity's account at certain periods. For this, you need to acquire the charity's bank account number and information. If you want to make the charity the beneficiary of an insurance claim, request a beneficiary change form from your plan administrator. Finally, items are a bit harder to give to charity unless the logistics are practical. In this case, it is better to ask the charity to come over and pick up the items in a regular basis, say, once and a month. If this proves impractical due to the logistics involved, ask them to get the items only when you call them.
